Description

Please take this as my way to let you know that my mother passed away on tuesday as I'm not able yet to talk a lot about what I've seen and what I feel. My father, my hubby and me where around when she stopped breathing, and although she will never read it I dedicate this to nurse Inken too, she was there for five hours to comfort and support, to dry our tears and to care about us all. I thought the whole day about an image that is able to express what I feel about our loss and what I feel about the people and friends I met here. This is what I ended up with. Nothing very sentimental, no painting, no angels... Just some of the last images I have showing my mother between May and October. I've got some later images, too - but as my Mom was a very wilful and chic woman I keep them private because I know she would grumble if I show them ;o) She always wanted to "see you all when I'm beautiful again" and hesitated to arise in public marked by cancer (well, she was cute, anyway). The first two photos are taken in May, while my son celebrated his 18th birthday (yes, I know, he's tall!), you see him hugging grandma and grandpa and you see my hubby, my son, my sister-in-law and me together with her enjoying a perfect day. The third photo was taken in late August on her last vacation to Poland, just a few days later she went to the hospital. The last photo was taken in October when she came home from hospital for some days, waiting for her next chemical therapy. She went to her garden as often as possible and on this day a neighbour visited her. Again, thank you so much for all your support and understanding, for the mails, messages, the telephone-calls and the big-hearted offer to drive us to the hospital. We are trying our best to answer my mothers last wish: Letting her go in peace and live again. It's not so easy, yet - but we're trying our best.

I think it is very sentimental, and a lovely tribute. As someone whose wife passed away two years ago from cancer, I offer my prayers and good wishes in your time of sorrow. Good memories and pain both last forever when you lose someone you love.

As I saw the thumbnail of this post I already knew what it would say. My most sincere condolences to you and your family and my heart and thoughts go out to you during this most difficult time. I find this to be a very beautiful memorium and shows clearly the wonderful times you had shared and the happiness of being together. I didn't have the luxury of being near when my father died as I was 3,000 miles away, and to this day really bothers me. I'm glad to got to spend your last moments with her, even though it's one of the most sad times in your life, you were there for her always. It's hard for me to offer anything more than my support and my prayers for you and your family as I still struggle myself with my past. A very touching tribute indeed and know you have quite a few friends here, as well, Meike! Hugs

I do not really know you, but I understand this kind of loss. Your words say a great deal, speaking of more than the loss of a parent. I am sorry for that loss, I hope time eases the pain.

What a moving tribute, as well do I offer my condolences, and the thought that as long as she lives in your heart, she is not truly gone. The heading says comments for improving this image, that would be impossible, it is perfect as it is.

After seeing your latest picture and reading your words under it, I knew what this picture would tell me. Again I just have to say that I wish I could find the right words to tell you how much my heart goes out for you and your family in this hard time of your lives,Meike. You have made a beautiful tribute to your Mom, and even though I am crying right now, I smile a bit too when I see those picture of a beautiful woman with so much love in her eyes. I am glad to hear that you could be there together with your beloved mother as she took her last breath, it must have been a comfort to her that she had her beloved ones around her. I am sure you will keep her and all the lovely memories of her in your heart forever. My deepest condolences to you and your family Meike, I am thinking about you. ~Love and hugs from Hedda~

My condoloences to you Meike, and your family. It took me a bit longer to post this as I recently had a death in my family this year and I know how difficult these times are for you and your family. I can see from the wonderful photos you have shared with us how special your mother is. She has such a beautiful smile. I am sure she lit up every room she walked in. Her incredible sense of humour radiates from her and she has such warmth and compassion. I am sure your mother filled every place with her elegance and gentleness. I have learned they never leave us. They live in our hearts as ancestors and will always be there, in our hearts to hold us and comfort us. I honour your mother for all of the joy and love she brought to you and your family and everyone she touched with her life. Blessings lululee
