Description

Hello all!! Yesterday , I put up a cave taken in Valley of the Fire and mentioned that I saw antient rock art made by early Indians in Navada. Nogo ( Akime)asked to see some of the example. So I put together a collage of the rock art last night,. Akemi ( Nongo )this is for you!..you are a wonderful photographer - i enjoy your work! Native American rock art, people often use the words petroglyph and pictograph interchangeably but they really are two different things. Petroglyphs are etched, carved or gouged into the rock whereas pictographs are simply painted onto the rock surface. SO here are a few gathered examples of prehistoric Indian petroglyphs! They are sometimes difficult to find locations of these marks that have been scratched into the rock surface. I found many and choose a few to show you today. The images are usually found in areas of 'desert varnish'

this is super. I saw some on tv. and they say they do not give out the locates of these for fear of people on purposefully damage them or will write bob love sue or some dumb thing. Some people will damage them because they shows things that the history books do not show like images of animals that did not live when man lived but the art is there anyway. Or english writeing from 7 century a.d.

You get the most excepational pictures - you don't just find a cave, you find one with writings on the walls. Amazing images and really gorgeous presentation. :V. :o) CC

Fascinating. I saw some of these in the desert in Arizone once. Truly awesome, and I am so glad that these have survived the onslaught of ignorance. I don't know why people do that.
