Description

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was one of the most important American fighters of the Second World War. Although its operational record was somewhat mixed, in general the P-38 was a fast, powerful and capable aircraft that performed well in a wide range of roles. More images, wips, mesh-views, related downloads etc are available on my site -> www.colacola.se Hope you like it!

P38 is one of my faves. Its also the main modeling tut for 3DS Max. I'm surprised there aren't more of them out there.

P-38's were great planes and at the outbreak of hostilities were the best thing the US had. The P-40 was too slow the Brewster buffalo was less than stellar. Later there were better planes. Great work suprized to see anotehr American plane.

The top Air Force aces of the Pacific flew the P-38. In Europe it's record was 1:1. Can stand with the Corsair and question the seemingly more credible F-8F Bearcat while we wonder why no one flew Mustangs with distinction against the Japanese. Jugs? They were in Europe too and the Airacobra. It does live on in a genral disdain for the Allison V-1710 of which it had twins. Watch out for the Merlin in any hanger flying discussion!
