Description

A small experiment of mine, to see if I could actually do the whole celestial body thing. Not entirely happy with how the gas giant turned out, but it's not bad. World Maker, Terragen, 3dsmax (for gas giant and moon 1), Lunarcell (for moon 2), and Photoshop for the postwork. Yep, loads of software used - wanted to see which works best. Comments are very welcome!

This is cool...the lighting and water are super. IMHO I think the rings are a bit too sharp and jaggy and really aren't needed as the image is excellent in all other aspects. Excellent overall!!

Have to agree with Markal about the rings (doesn't need them) other than that, this is outstanding!! Great choice of colors!

This is a Cool Sci-Fi scene. The rings make that planet look like our solar system's Neptune. I work very much with PS7 and I know it's hard to get anything as small as those rings not to alias on you. Overall this is an excellent render!

Thank you so much for the positive comments all. I see so many of you as the ones who set the bar, so I'm really greatful to see that you took the time to comment on my humble work! I shall endeavour to do the rings better in future, but it's always been something that I've found hard to produce well. I keep trying though, as they can look so great!

Fabulous. The scene is beautifully balanced. The only thing I'd change is the moon in the foreground, I'd make it a bit smaller, but that's only because the apparently methane rich gas giant behind it is so wonderfully done.
