Radiola - 1948 by TwoPynts

Some of you may know that I photograph a coworker's collection of vintage tube radios (that he restores) from time to time. When he brought this one in to work I knew it was special. It looks pretty good for a 58 year old radio, eh? And it works! This is a tough one to find on the web, even at the vintage radio websites. I photographed it in the light tent in the usual manner and was really please to see the soft glow that suffused the whole image when I opened it in Photoshop. It was suggested that I change the background to give it more contrast, but I feel that the image works as a cohesive whole as is. Aaah...enough Stridesberging, thanks for stopping by. You can see the other radio in my gallery here: Little Jewel - 1945 ----- * RADIOLA * - RCA, Radio Corp. of America (later RCA Victor Co. Inc.) - Model: 762X12 - Chassis: Plastic

The lighting is wonderful and warm! Harkens back to a simpler time, when people sat in their living rooms and listened to music, or huddled around it anxiously awaiting "Breaking news", or an exciting radio show. And it still works! Very cool Kort!

Very nostalgic! This art deco look has definitely returned in a big way. Nothing is new under the sun, after all. Except maybe what we see here on Renderosity. Nice retro composition!

I love these old radios! Since I cannot afford the real thing, I bought a cathedral style repro from http://www.crosleyradio.com/ recently. One of these days I will get an art deco style such as this one. ;o)

love the peach-creamy colour scheem + the marilyn quote - amazing how v ordinary object are seen differently as soon as they become 'antiques'

Obviously, this was a "designer" set back then, though I don't think they used that word. It is a beautiful job of restoration and your photography is superb.

It is only 8 years younger as me but looks marvellously... a wonderful nostalgic impression!

super macro and radio was the only thing we had for entertainment when I was a kid. I converted an Admiral to pickup shortwave signals and as I listened to the world I dreamed about how those places must look

Brings back the good ole days when radio was as much a source of entertainment as the TV..great capture of a slice of history.

Cannot believe how this looks touchable. Light set up sure worked. The other thing I am so impressed on is how well horizontal you got it. Lines up near dead level.
