If you have tried to view cross-eye stereograms and failed, here's another method you might try. My wife who had been trying for years tried it and was able to see them within one minute! :-)
1. Get a piece of Black construction paper about 6" square. (Sorry, non-USA people, I gave up trying to learn metrics).
2. Cut a rectangle about 2" x 1 1/2" in the center.
3. Sit about 3' away from your screen.
4. Position the black paper about 10" away from your eyes.
5. Focus at the hole in the black paper.
This method will effectively remove the distracting side images. Experimentation involving measurements in all the above steps may be necessary, but you have the time and the desire, don't you?
