Description

The sweeping nature of the Omphale conquests has taken even Omphale's High Command by surprise. The female populations of nearby systems were well-disposed to Omphale and their rapid assimilation was assumed. Elsewhere, women were far less impressed and have often fought hard against Omphale's forces. Nevertheless, the tide of victory has only ever flowed one way and now Omphale needs to garrison far more planets than she bargained for. That involves recruiting local women of possibly questionable loyalties and stiffening their resolve by converting numbers of StarMarines to police-style functions. The trouble is that the soldiers trust the local women only marginally more than they trusted the men. Some of those now wearing Omphale's colours were, not long ago, serving in the enemy cause - and doing so with every sign of passionate conviction. The locals have their understandable doubts about the invaders, too. A StarMarine's instinctive solution to every problem is to reach for her raypistol. So assured in the conduct of interstellar war, Omphale soldiers and High Command alike flounder in peacetime. Now an edict has been issued: every former StarMarine on patrol must be accompanied by at least two local girls, identically equipped. The edict puts a lot of trust in the loyalty of the Empire's women, but, gradually, it is doing the trick. Murder to render. I wanted to do it in one go, because at least a little bit of each woman is behind the structure (by Stonemason, from DAZ), as well as in front of it. Poser objected a zillion times, or simply seized up. On the plus-side, I don't need a haircut any more. Rayguns by Geodesic250, from RMP.
