Description

I know pretty bland for my first LW pic, just trying to get a feel for it. I was following a pretty cool photorealistic Earth tutorial, and was surprised how well it turned out. I was trying to do an animation with this scene, the asteroid flying by the planet. But I couldn't get my starry background to map right using the "Textured Environment" plugin. No matter how big the res was, the stars were always too big; reducing the res or scale in the plugin had no effect. And the "StarSphere" option didn't quite work out either. Tutorial: http://personal.southern.edu/~dascott/tutorial01/nasa-earth.htm#LW56 You may need to find resource images for it first.

I think this turned out nice, my first LW pic didn't turn out this good and I really admire you for attempting animation with your first one.

what a great start joe!! looks good. my only cit is how lit the front of the meteroid is. you got almost pure black on the earth, but on that, it is lit? if you want a little "fill" light, try using a bluer light so it don't look like the key light. either way, looks great!

petes: yea, the asteroid is lit by a light behind the camera, which I set to only affect the asteroid. Otherwise the asteroid wouldn't show up. I didn't think about the light colour. Thanks :)
