Description
A couple of days ago, astronomers released the findings of a planet orbiting a red dwarf star--among the most common stars in the galaxy--about 20,000 light-years away in Sagittarius. The planet has been observed to be only 5.5 times larger than Earth, making it a most likely rocky planet, although extremely cold. The planet has been designated OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb. We're getting closer to finding a world like our own, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
This is my concept of what a view from the surface of this world may look like. Ice terrain, atmosphere, and red dwarf done in Terragen, sky postwork done in Photoshop CS. Not exactly my best work, but it was something I threw together in the joy of hearing the news. Still, any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and enjoy!
