Neran Zekk thought her universe had imploded when her commanding officer recommended her to join the planetary police on the newly conquered world of Daedalus Landing. Neran was nothing if not a starsoldier, so, if not a starsoldier, she would be... nothing. Some of her new colleagues were similiarly disgruntled ex-StarMarines. The rest were local women, almost all of whom had resisted the conquest. Neran spent half her time incandescent with rage as these planetary plods took the side of impertinent planetsiders against her - an Omphale StarMarine! What a difference a year makes. Those infuriating locals are now her inseparable friends. Instead of shrinking from her in fear, civilians smile and wave and Neran smiles and waves back. The trigger-happy veteran of eight invasions now hardly ever touches her gun. She has never been happier.
