Description

When I reach the Chaltwassergletscher (Chaltwasser Glacier, and Chaltwasser means cold water) I am close to the clouds, but fortunately I keep free sight to all directions. It's cold up here although the sun tries to warm the rocky landscape. Covered by the clouds the Monte Leone (3553 m, 11657 ft) hides itself. The Italian name means Mountain of the Lions (Thank you, Nathalie!), but there's little chance to see any lion right now. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 35 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

it is hard to tell if you are at the top of the remains of a glacier or at the bottom. the angle is misleading I think. a vista no doubt and a real pleasure to see

Just the rocks and glacier look cool in theri ruggedness. It is well to avoid the need for radar and instruments to follow a sight line.

Impressive shot but I get chilled to the bone looking at it! I wonder how much will be left of this glacier in a couple of years' time...

And then you reach the sky and the clouds here... Superb how the clouds involved the mountain. And this is another superb exemple of glacier. No lions here ? are you shure ???? look at behind you ;o))) There must be a snow lion somewhere, I'm shure !!!! I love this place, maybe for his name.... Have a beautiful week-end Jan-Carel. Hugs.
