BIOI am a Florida native, I grew up in a Mayo, Florida on a tobacco, chicken and watermelon farm. I am 32 and currently enrolled at the University of South Florida, studying to become an Industrial Engineer. My great-great grandfather was one of the first photographers in Florida. I use a Canon 40D and a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30. I enjoy nature photography and macro photography.

the main problem in a shot like this is getting the focus on the critter instead of the background. if you have manual focus then it could be avoided but not always. still an excellent shot of this moth

Nice shot and nice to see it! The only reason for deleting pics for me is, when I dont like them anymore. When everybody keeps only the "best shots" in the gallery, maybe beginners would be easy discouraged, thinking they are untalented, but photography as well as texturing and rendering can be learned. But as I said earlyer: This shot isnt bad.

Cool shot Wendy! One thing you can try on photos like this is playing with the "level" of the exposure in your image editing program. "Level" refers to setting the highlights and shadows of an image by plotting the darkest and lightest pixels to black and white. Adjusting this optimally should bring up the color of the light to closer to white, and will bring out some definition in the underside of the moth as well. After adjusting the level, no contrast adjust should be necessary, and the image should have a nicer appearance overall. I'd play with it and see! Have a beautiful day/evening Wendy!
