Description

(My rendition of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven in a humorous key) Once upon a midnight dreary, as I did my laundry weary Knowing it was late and pointless since they hadn't time to dry I was shocked to hear rebounding what it seemed to me a cry. "'Tis the cat, she had a nightmare, dreaming of some cattish lore. Only this and nothing more." Presently the cry grew louder, nervous, piercing and... somewhat bored "What is this? What's this impudence? On this night's Plutonian shore?" Wondered I aloud and angry opening the bathroom door. "Oh, if only I do catch you, spoiled cat, being a bore!" (as I opened wide the door) Only dark and nothing more. "'Tis a mystery", I muttered, "and I surely must explore" So I started in the darkens knocking furniture on the floor Where's my cat? "Hey kitty-kitty! I'm the human you adore, You adore to scratch, annoy, tease and even a bit more!" Not a "meow", or "nevermore". This poem must have a moral, I perceive and mustn't bore Oh, well, being late and dark on the night Plutonian's shore I did not see my cat sleeping on a couch, and even snore. That was the sound - and not much more.
