Description

~ sensual lips ~ second in a series of portraits... here's the first one here's the third one i'm currently trying to enhance my photographic abilities... especially with portraits... and i had a wonderful model... thank you sweety... :) what do you think...?!? any ideas, suggestions?!? location: bavaria framing: obviously... tool: canon eos 300D + flash + ordinary light ; layout & framing -> Xara xtreme postwork: PSE3 --- next posting: ~ heart-beat (pink) ~ previous posting: ~ reflective ~ oh - well... ranking is open - but: i'd like to get honest ones... so a honest "NICE" with a useful comment is more worth than an excellent what is not meant this way... ;)
thanks for stopping by and watching :) and of course - critics, thoughts, whatever are welcome - the more useful the better... ;) so don't hesitate to point out things which could be done better... thank you! -christian

[ha, ha...I like that "honest" thing - I keep trying and fighting with some members for this issue! :D] ok, now - my opinion...don't use the flash besides the moments when it is absolutely necesary; another kind of lighting would be absolutely super if you have a tripod or use anything instead of a tripod for a long exposure (e.g. 1-3 seconds, depending on the power of your lamp). Try and I'm sure that even if in the beginning will be weird, hard or whatever the final results will give more satisfaction and will leave me without a word! all the best from me! mihai

IMHO flashes with softboxes gives the best results for portraits. You can get small softboxes even for flashes you put on the cameras hotshoe. I personaly wouldn't go below 1/15s for portraits in mixed light environments, even with tripod, except you freeze your models. For me the lighting here is OK but could be improved by reducing shadows. I never would chose a POV from below, direct to the nostril of my model, try a more frontal POV even if you need a longer lens to get the desired effectiv frame without distortion. Well done, though !

Christian, I am really drawn to the eye. A beautiful shape and color. I would love to see it the main focus and the other parts more recessed. Now, I'm just a viewer, not a photographer, so what do I know. I really like it as is too.

Although this is not perfect (I do agree with the constructive remarks above), I wish I would be able to make portraits as this one... Good work, Christian ! :~)

Excellent work here. I don't know about lighting (as evidenced by some of my previous attempts at shooting people...read some of my comments)but I do think it is an excellent job and maybe not perfect in the eyes of someone much more experienced and expert than me like Mikan but excellent all the same. :)

It's an interesting composition. And I do appreciate the honesty in that there seems little was done to hide any 'flaws'...You are fortunate to have such a willing model. Her eye is beautiful.I would recommend a shot that accentuates their beauty. Also,I would put this thru NeatImage...I find it can be wonderful for portraits.Nice work,Christian!I look forward to seeing more of this exploration from you.-M :^)

Look at George Hurrels's work. Though he did his portraits in the 40 to 50's, I think you are trying to do the same. Thank you for sharing.
