My little experiments with C4D continue! This time I was trying to find out the best setting to render a human character, and what better than a portrait! I

Great! Just trying C4d out with poser and found your image. You did a good job!

I think AO is abient occlusion. I'm sorry but I really think this is an average render. Without a background it looks flat and a little lost. (do you know what I mean?) I think the specular light on her nose makes it more realistic.

i like the hair, but the specular of the skin is not realistic. do you use specular maps? and the eyes have to hard edges. so they dont look realistic too... but i know how difficult it is to get a realistic face. ok, i modell it :) you took it from poser... nice!

I like it really a lot. a background image would distract me. you can try using subsurface displacement to make the skin more realistic and use this plugin for importing makes life easier. www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/interposer_ltd.htm How did you make the hair? in c4d no way? Hair misses the highlights like on the skin

Try amending the lighting setup to add to the skincolours (skin reflects the colours of the light reflecting in a room). Also increase the specularity a bit and add a light blue colour in the specular colour channel. I would add a lot of reflection and specularity to the eyes too, they seem a little flat at the moment and look like they have been roughly painted in the postwork stage. Keep it up!

Try using the Riptide plugin for importing Poser figures, it imports almost all setting correct except transmap (load those in the alpha channel manually) I think her nose looks good, perhaps a model would use some powder but I know my nose shines no matter what. :) The eyes do look somewhat flat, it's a difficult thing to get right. Thanks for all of the information and have fun experimenting. You're doing great so far!

Non sono un esperto di C4D, quindi non potrdarti consigli di nessun genere!!! Pertrovo l'immagine molto bella! a parte il luccichio del naso e lo sfondo "non-sfondo" lo trovo un bellissimo lavoro!!! Excellent!!!
