Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

For years each spring I used to see out by the gate post out fronr 1000's of those bugs and they were busy doing the same thing. Don't know what happen because I have not seen them the pass two years. But why were they at that same spot each year is what I did not understand unless they live are there in the ground or something.

Ive never seen those kinds of bugs before either. The look like cockroaches on Halloween, lol. Its surely is hard to focus on running objects like that, and my autofocus is way too slow. So i always lock focus when im trying to shoot a bug. But i think you did really good, you even had straws all over the place that caused distraction. Way to go indeed! Have a great day. #:O)

Bussy bugs in winter? That's remarkable. Have a good day, J.C.!

Now that airport landing fees are going to the poor in Africa, I see zulu shields everywhere. A solid capture.

For me, this guy is a fire bug(Pyrrhocoris apterus) It has been known to attack other insects (see : http://www.geocities.com/pelionature/Pyrrhocoris.htm) French names are : Gendarme Suisse ! :~) German name : Die Feuerwanze . I was trying to capture these bugs last year(when in the Cevennes) but my macro technique was not yet "at R'osity level"... Monika (Akinom) has posted an amazing picture : http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=947509 :~)

Yes, I know what you mean.. Sometimes is taking a shot to valuable that the quality doesn't matter anymore.. well to a certain degree of course. I would have done the same here.. One cannot let those bugs go without taking a picture of them..

I agree with most comments on this species: it seems that, all around the world, they have only one thing in mind: an extreme urgency to reproduce. Fortunately for them, they can get a lot of practice!!!!

Excellent capture, JC but I think they are pyrrhocoris apterus in french " punaise de feu " = fire bug, or "gendarme suisse"... Here some links : http://www.ginkgo-web.de/streifzug/pyrrhocoris/abb1_feuerwanze.htm http://www.sylviescope.com/pyrrho/pyrrho01.html tell me what you think ziboux
