Description

Hello Everybody!!! Today's post is one of the darling little babies in our family cemetary. His name is John Jeeson Whiteaker. Born in Oct. the 12th, 1882. Died in Dec. the 14th, 1882. He was taken home after 62 days on this Earth. This family cemetery is not well taken care of. For what reason I do not know. But, now that we're here, this will change. There are from what I've seen, four name sakes that share this ground. Whiteaker(also spelt in 2 other ways), Tays(also spelt Tayes), Henry, & Johnson. I was told by another older family member, that over the years, Whiteakers married the Tays, who married the Henry's who married the Johnson's and we're all one big family!!!! Although no one knows anything about these people, so I've got loads of research to do. All these folks are my husband's side only. This cemetary is about a 40 minute drive southeast of our home, down at the bottom of the Smoky Mountains. It is built into the side of the mountain about 300ft. up, and overlooks this absolute gorgeous green meadow! And it's been green everytime I've seen it-almost like God has his own little spot light shining through! Will be giving more info. as we go. Have decided to make this into a huge series, since I've gotten other projects for the same subject. Hope everyone has a great evening! Big Hugs and thanks to ALL who view/comment! Velvet.

There are fewer things in life that are as sad as baby-gravestones. Just seeing how short time they got to spend on this earth is heartbreaking. The design of gravestones has really moved forward in a rapid speed hasnt it? Have a great day V. #:O)

The poor baby. I don't know what I would do if I lost one of my children. I feel for the long ago parents. Sad! Thanks for sharing this Velvet.

WOW!! That's a whole lot of info to take in at once. So are you going to write down everything that you do find? Make an ancestry chart or something? This is so cool to see.

My grandfather is buried in NE Oklahoma in an Native American cemetary. I have no idea why because there is no Indian blood in the family. He is surrounded by Cherokeee chiefs dating back to the early 1800's. markers holds many stories like this one of the baby

Another fantastic capture of a little slice of American family history. I have chosen a family to research myself, having one heck of a time finding information though, but as they say ...perserverance furthers. Great work Velvet!
