Description

Uhm yeah...this is my first real try at matte/2D painting and I have to say...I'm craving Victoria 3 right now. :) I used some photos with kind permission by Steven Pinker (http://pinker.wjh.harvard.edu/index.html) but ended up repainting the whole lot. Couldn't have done it without the references though, cause my imagination won't work with me on that. :) I did this with an ancient mouse (got it in a time when they still had to invent the laser probably) so as you can see I'm a big fan of the smudge/dodge/burn tool. Hope you'll like it and critisism is much appriciated! Take care, Sabra

Awesome painting! NP using photos as reference, otherwise you had to sit long time in bad weather outside and freeze your butt off..LOL... I particular like the feeling of depth in this painting. ~Uwe

I especially like the colors and mood ! Next time maybe you could try to keep some elements less blurred :)

I think this is a wonderfully done image -- The way you painted the light in this gives an, elegant, haunting feel that leave my mind grasping for vague glimpses of - something.....Very nicely done! Bravo!!

very cool Sabra, I know what you mean about missing the usual tools! I feel like that everytime I have to do traditional mixed medium work, which is what I do the least of. Fabulous work though dear, truly wonderful!

First of all, you should be given the Golden Medal of the Strained Wrist! Painting with a mouse... Nice, but you don't have an excuse for the composition! Too much empty space in the centre. Your technique is great though, the future is yours ;)
