BIOI am a Florida native, I grew up in a Mayo, Florida on a tobacco, chicken and watermelon farm. I am 32 and currently enrolled at the University of South Florida, studying to become an Industrial Engineer. My great-great grandfather was one of the first photographers in Florida. I use a Canon 40D and a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30. I enjoy nature photography and macro photography.

One of the favourite means of locomotion for small spiders is to sail through the air by the drag on a thin thread (which they of course spin for the purpose), this is commonly called "ballooning". You can actually find small spiders as high as 10 km (I would think those are dead, because of the temperatures, but still, it's an amazing feat for such a small animal...) Very nice shot!

This looks like one of the 'jumping spider' species. National Geographic had a show and an artical about these little guys awhile back. I love the little buggers. (I first noticed them when I went to squish one that was on my white wall.... it was black. Noticed it real quick. You can imagine my suprise when it dodged my attempts. Then I thought I'd trick it by using my other hand to distact it. Jumped right onto my face with that one.) Yep!!! I learned to love & respect them that day!!! :O) ... V

Ha ha, Wendy, you might be a bit too large as prey for this spidey although I can imagine the feeling! :) Don't feel obliged too much to the comments, it can be draining too much energy and I guess your study is more important than RR.... ;) Gorgeous work! Take care and have a wonderful Sunday! hugs

Jumping spider? Ewwwww (shuddering violently)! Good thing it was out for the Jasmine branch and not YOU! Great capture of it though! I'm just glad you didn't have to share a story of how hard it was getting it out of your hair, or something. LOL. Fine photographic work as always Wendy! Have a fabulous day!
