Description
G'day. This is a dead tree in a vine Yard in the yarra Valley east of Melbourne. I thought it would oook good in a desaturated tone rather than b&w. I have seen this tree when it was alive and my work (in local government) tried to save it. It was a rare species of Eucalyptus yarrensis, which is only found in this valley and no where else in the world. My work insisted that the owner of the land plant their vine yard plants with a (10m+) gap around the tree. Alas due to a number of factors (not necessarily naural factors) it has since died but is a much photographed tree. There are still a few left in the valley but the influx of vine yards and tourism has meant the decline of the species and it will probably become extinct in its natural state. It can be purchased at specialist nurseries but this is rare too!!
Regards
Lou

Or alive! In the hearts, minds and souls of many. The fact that you have captured this, keeps it there. Let's the rest of the world know of it's existance. This was a dream,a legend or a myth. Because of you, it is LIVING proof that even in death, there is beauty. That beauty will Live on in the hearts of many. History has once again, left it's mark. Hopefully, it will not repeat itself.

With today's technology it shouldn't be too difficult to preserve enough samples of the species to survive. That is, if the will (and the money) is there to do so. They have done it with other trees. But this one is really wonderful, beautiful shot!

Too bad when a species is threatened to extinction! :( It's a great tree, not si very typical looking for a Eucalyptus though but I love to see this one. I hate to see species that disappear, every species has a function int eh the good creation and once lost it's hard to get them back (although you confirm they still have them in specialist nurseries). Gorgeous work! Unique! :)
