Description

Ever felt like supplementing your protein intake the African way? Have you ever heard of mopane worms being harvested? If it sounds appetising, read on... (besides, you eat shrimps, don't you?! *LOL*) These eggs are laid by the mopane moth on the leaf of a mopane tree. Please look at the shape of the leaf, it is moth/butterfly shaped and "mopane" means "butterfly"! Read more about the worm delicacy. Bon appetite!

Brilliant detailed and colourful shot, I love where you've placed the eggs in the compo too. I ate these guys in Botswana the dried out ones, they taste like dry, burnt toast. Not bad at all!

Yum yum. Been there, done that. I lived in Zimbabwe for the first few years of my life and I always shared our gardener's lunch meals with him. The worms were just one of the native meals I had tried as an adventurous youth. Great photo Piet

Ha ha, no worms for me though! Original work, many times I find eggs in summer and ask myself what it might result in, but this is clear now! Gorgeous work, Piet! :)
