Description

This old home is located at the very northeastern tip of Nash County, in North Carolina. Everyone I've spoken to in reference to this place refers to it as "the old haunted place." In an area of the country with so many abandoned homes (due mainly to either poverty, or buyouts from Governmental or Corporate entities), it's interesting that folks in the area always refer to this one as "haunted" and not any of the many other delapitated old homes which have sat empty for so long. The place apparently hasn't been lived in for 50 years or better, but it still stands today. Curious I'd say, as many other buildings this far gone have been demolished, or at least collapsed by now. I have not been able to find out anything about the history of this home to date, and probably never will be able to (perhaps it had a violent history, better left forgotten?), but I do hope to at least find out the name of the last family to occupy it, and perhaps meet one of them, just to see what they have to say about having lived there. Anyway, thank you so very much for looking at my work, I hope you have a most wonderful day! PS. This image was captured on November 30, 2005 at around 4pm, using an Olympus Camedia C-700UZ digital camera.

I don't know what it is about old abandoned houses but they surely capture the imagination. The photograph is great. Have you tried photographing the place at twilight? I bet the photo would take on a whole new ambiance.

Hello!Ciao!Another superb image of this splendid series!!The photo is wonderful, fantastic colors with an incredible light! But it puts a little one of sadness see houses that have a story and were inhabited.. left and forgotten! The nature coiled this old house almost to want to comfort these old walls with the green and the life!Excellent work my dearest Troy!!My compliments for your big skill!!V!!I wish you a happy day and a wonderful week!!A big kiss and a big hug!!

Apparently wooden houses (I assume this is wood) hold up longer than brick... Amazing series Troy, wonderful research!

Impressive capture of this old house. Would it be haunted? No idea. One could decide to find out by starting a living there... ;) Gorgeous work, Troy! :)

What sort of feelings did you get while you were taking the photo? It has a sort of eerie air to it, but not a "bad haunted". Almost like a lost soul with questions. Fabulous capture! Please find out more! I'm curious of these things!
