Description
Another two little galaxies imaged with my trusty webcam. This time through an Orion ST80 telescope on a Celestron ASGT mount.
The big galaxy is M51 (NGC 5194) and it is reaching out and just tickling a small galaxy NGC 5195. The pair are in Ursa Major (The Big Dipper, or the Plough to us Brits.). Again the M designation is from french comet hunter Charles Messier and his 'Do Not Look Here' list 'coz these are not comets, n'est pas!'
20 x 60 second exposures adjusted with 60 x 60second dark exposures (picture - dark = better picture). Histogram stretched and adjusted with PSP9. Gaussian unsharp masking done with PSP9.

excellent Photography

By the way, the green colour is an artifact of the way the webcam is set up to do this photography. It is more sensitive to green light than anything else. The greenosity is false colour.

Wow, impressive work! What you call 'small' - visibly yes, but the real size is far beyond our comprehension! Stunning work! :)
