Description

This old pier is located along the Roanoke River, as it runs through the rural town of Jamesville, in Martin County, North Carolina. The pier was once used for catching smelt and other fish for the Cypress Grill restaurant (which is a fantastic place to eat), but it has not been used in decades for any purpose. When the pier was originally built is unknown, but the restaurant had been operating for years before my Uncle Dan first ate there, and that was around 60 years ago. The pier stood there at that time. The Cypress Grill is still one of the finest places to eat in Jamesville (imho). This image was captured on January 26, 2006 at 11:52am, using a Nikon D50 outfit. Thanks for looking, have a most wonderful day!

Looks like you went for a more graphical approach here. Quite a big river! Excellent capture, I see the light conditions weren't easy to shoot this with the high contrasts.

seen it's better days obviously but still holds many stories. long winded stories about the fish that got away probably-haha. there are probably fish that hides around the old wood. I can imagine how good the fish must be in the restaurant

So are you saying that it isn't safe to eat fish from there? If that is the case, that's too bad 'cuz i love Smelt or Grunions as they call they call them in California.
