Description

When I finished building my darkroom, I used the door (which was ofcourse painted black on the inside) as a backdrop for my 'photo sessions' (yeah right...:). I lit the scene with a..uhm...I don't know the English word for it, but it's a light you use when you're painting a room. A really harsh looking, 300 Watt halogen type of thing. The one that construction workers use...or so-called photographers. *lol* It was really all I could afford at the time, and the reason she started laughing was because I made a joke about how her tan would really go Caribbean-like if she just sat there for a while, cause after 15 minutes we had to turn down the heating cause that lamp was getting pretty damn hot. :) I just love this shot. It was the most spontaneous shot I ever made and it is just so MY mom, like I know her. :) Hope you'll like it too, and thanks for viewing! Take care, Sabra

Wonderful picture of your mother, a treasure. Keep the picture and your dear mother in your heart forever. Her laughter warms the heart.

Fantastic lighting, I really love the contrast between the super white and jet black, with little in the way of shades of gray between the two. Very stark, very excellent. Excellent portrait work Sabra! Have a wonderful day my friend. XOXOX

It's very cool. Reminds me of the movie star portraits they did in Hollywood in the 40s. (I have one of those tanning lights, too...lol) :0)

Wonderful "mom" shot...keep that image. My mom is gone but I remember and do not have the images I would like to have. Well done.

I like the harsh contrast in this one....Good thing in BW photos is that lightcolor is not so important so you can use these cheap lights and have great results. ~Uwe

Great shot Sabra :o) I think that most great pictures are taken when models are spontaneous (natural smile, mood and something unique ... makes pictures so natural and unusual). Have a great day. Best regards from Poland Marcin
