Description

I don't know why I'm uploading so much of my older work, my photography work. (cause that IS my older work :) It's not really the workload that I'm dealing with now, cause in that case I wouldn't have posted at all. Maybe it's an 'excuse' to see what people think of my art from a period in which other people's opinions of my art didn't really matter in the first place. When I created art not because I had to make a living out of it, not because I wanted respect, but just for the sake of bloody art. Because I didn't know better. I sometimes didn't even realise I was 'doing art'. I just carried around my camera, feeling safe when I was hiding behind it ('no don't take a shot of ME, I'm the photographer!) and feeling naked and lost without it. This is one of those shots. I was on a weekend trip, from the psychiatric hospital I was in due to my 'issues'. I was obsessed with my freedom and decided to capture every moment of it, should they lock me up for good and throw away the key. *lol* This image is FREEDOM! At the age of 87, she's still wondering about life and the mystery of it. She is my Inspiration, in body, mind and everything else we haven't discovered yet. I'm blessed...to post bother my mother and her mother in captures the way I know them best. One would almost say I have an eye for it. Or maybe a LOVE for it. For them. :) Thanks for the wonderful comments, they warm my heart! Take care, Sabra

Fantastic work Sabra! I only wish I knew her name. Somehow that always makes a picture mean even more (not to diminish the meaning and importance of this fine portrait work). Do you know what I mean? Just her first name would be great! Your love for both your Mom and Grandmother definitely shines through in your captures of them. Splendid portrait Sabra! Have a most wonderful day!

She looks exactly like my auntie! Could be her sister, how amazing... Reminds me so much of her and the days of little red lamps, exposures and the smell of the chemicals, the image slowly coming to life on the Ilford or Agfa paper... Watch your IM, there's a message coming! ;-)

Beautiful work ~ it's odd how our society avoids the old, when they have so much for us. My fav portraits are of old people, you inspire me to dig though my files. Well done
