Description

Hi all In response to some comments, I've submitted this blown up/original image 'I had to crop it to keep it under the 512k but keep the quality its still at 86% quality. Before I altered the lighting rendered as Vues fantastic lighting can, with a bit of touch up around the elbows etc. I think it would be better, I alter all my renders to suit the character and feeling. Being a Neromancer she dances and controls the dead, and she herself is dead that is why I left her as smooth as possible to give an un-natural look and feel in contrast to the real/living clothing and surroundings that she loved and made her feel special. I didn't want her to look mouldy or disgusting because they are supposed to have been of extreme beauty in life and can't give up on mortal life destined to walk in shadows and not be seen and doing nasty things, jealous of the living the lighting is trying to reflect this. Uwe was right about the bump on the wall and I think the floor and bench needed more ummph as well. I sometimes miss this in excitement of showing my work and sometimes to bring out the front character 'adds more depth'. I'm trying to create art, tell a story, not always realism. In fairness I should write a little background about the things i'm trying to achieve I always assume the viewer is of the same thought patterns and ideas and can see what i'm trying to do. Thankyou for all your comments I much prefer someone to be moved to point out the floors, as we know this is how we improve, I just feel I shouldn't explain every picture to the point of lecturing, many of you are better than me anyway. Once again many thanks for your comments I really appreciate them and we all should be moved by art, thats why it's there. Chris Poole Ps this is the third attempt trying to upload this, keep having to downgrade the image it won't always accept anything close to 512k.

Outstanding work. Attention to detail is amazing. I could study this image for hours. The shadows cast through the netting on her dress and around her neck are perfect. The texture on the dress and the rusty areas on the clock add wonderful realistic detail. The lighting and shadow are in perfect contrast. The fact that you left her with porcelain white skin is a great contrast to the colour and texture on her dress. You have done a really wonderful job here and I see no room for improvement. It's stunning.

First off, missie mandelbrots observations are absolutely right on the mark. Secondly, the detail is really super all the way down to the bumpmaps on her clothes which I know you had to do manually in VUE. The biggest issue for me is lighting an image properly. I see so many images that are really done well but the image is soooo 2d looking because the lighting gives no depth to it. The sense of light and shadows in these images get completely washed out. This image however should serve as a tutorial for doing lighting as perfectly as can be. Since the lighting is mostly soft, the soft shadows complement it very nicely. The bright areas are not overly done bleaching the color out, they too complement the image very nicely as it draws the eye to various parts of the image. The best thing in this image, not to undervalue everything else, is the depth it has BECAUSE of the lighting. She is literally popping out of the picture. It is so realistic looking. This is so very well done and again should serve as an example on doing proper lighting. Excellent work. V

Oh my, I can see so many more details in this one! Her porcelain skin lends an air of otherworldliness that contrasts nicely with the astounding dress textures.

you have dome soo well with the textures they are fanatastic!!! I alsways think it so sad that one can lose the detail with the compression!

Wow, I love the subtle contrast of the light and shadows, the textures of the fabric against the smoothness of her skin! Fantastic work!!

Intersting. You might want to try a few more crops, just to see what effect it will give you. Honestly, this could be a perfume ad.

This close-up is more natural with the lights. Superb. I was looking the details of textures, it's incredible how a program could do that. It seems so real ! Excellent work, more "human" than so many photographies, lol ! V
