Description

We bought a mantis egg casing to put out in the garden and the little guys inside decided to hatch today! the first day of spring! (in the northern hemisphere of course ;-) ) Their timing could not have been more perfect! I have a few more shots of them that I may post. They are so tiny and move around so much that it was difficult to get detailed shots. Hopefully some will stick around for more photo ops. Hate to post and run though I promise to try to comment tomorrow. Busy busy but had to post this. :-) Thank you for your much appreciated comments and have a fantastic Tuesday! Oh my Lord, Wendy!! You show us the most amazing little wonders that live in your garden but honestly..... this little baby just stole my heart. Isn't it just sooooooo sweet?! And to think that it helped usher in our wonderful Spring time. I also hope that you have a few of them left come this Summer. Maybe the Frog Prince will get his fill and leave a few behind. I can hope, can't I? This is going right to my fav. spot!!! {{VOTE}}

WOW!!!!!!!! In 50 years I have never seen a mantis nymph! I didn't even know they went thru the nymph stage rather than the larva/pupa stage. Now I am both informed and entertained by your incredible image!

very cool picture the first time I looked at it I only saw the watch and thought that Fossil would love the PR but then I saw the very small mantis which is by the way a fantastic capture.

That is the tiniest mantis I've ever seen! I thought it was a dang 'squiter at first. Great capture Wendy! It's wonderful that you've provided some sense of scale with this tiny guy. Fantastic work!
