Description

One of the two guys who stimulated me to experiment in Photoshop is Geert a.k.a. girsempa so I decided to dedicated this one to you! In a first attempt I've taken the original scanned slide (after removing dust, cropping borders and enhancing levels) and I applied auto levels in an adjustment layer, and I applied different layer modes with an opacity of 100% to the picture (2-6). I'd love to read what one(s) you do prefer so please feel free to make your choice. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

I don't know what I am looking at but I think 2 and 4 look the best just because the image seems to pop more for me that is they are all really cool though

Good morning JCRR!! :-) Thanks a lot for this dedication! You're putting me to work again ;-) So, here you go: No2, Normal, lost all the original colors, so I wouldn't use this at 100%. No3, Bleach, or Screen, is good for clearing up dark images but not really a good option here. No4, Cover, or Overlay, looks like a good option here, because it enhances the contrast AND the colors, but 100% is too strong, use it at 50-60%. No5, Weak or Soft Light, is also a good option here, probably the same result as using Overlay at 60%. And No6, Luminosity, is a perfect option if you absolutely want to keep the original colors, but enhance the contrast. So, personally, I would duplicate the adjustment layer, use the first one as Overlay at 50%, and the second one as Luminosity at 80%. You better don't change the colors too much here, so I'd go for mainly Luminosity, No6, add a slight color shift with Overlay, No4. That concludes the votes of the Belgian Jury ;-) I'm sure others will have a different choice or solution, that's inevitable. Thanks again, Jan-Carel! See you!

Very interesting your experimentation Jan-Carel, and thank you to Geert too ! It's incredible to see the difference between this 6 possibilities. Difficult to make a choice with only 1 result for me, lol ! I like the 4 and the 6. The 4 maybe for the dark color, very contrasted. But in the last there are all de details, the differents colors and the trasparency too. Then yes OK I vote for the last one ! and that concludes the votes of the French Jury ;o)))) lol ! Something more : I really love this serie and all your experiments Jan-Carel ! Have a nice day my friend. Hugs. V

Like the last one. It is amazing isn't it, how the same picture can be changed at the click of a key !! Good experiment.

I would use #4 to go along with a 'dark' story or poem. Then I would use #6 for a backdrop to a layer image of something else. it's raining outside this morning and I've yet to have my coffee. So I guess I'm in that 'dark' mood right now. I'm glad you're having fun in that program. I've yet to figure out all the neat things mine can do. Thanks Jan-Carel!!

Nr 6, mainly for retaining most of the original colour, #4 would be my choice for most dramatic!

1 is the best, keep most closely to the natural colore and #2 for interesting color and #4 for being dramatic, way to go:):)..V

I like #6 the best, with perhaps a 25% opactiy overlay of #5. Great series of ice shots recently, but this one seems the most otherworldy somehow. =]

I think 6 for me as it stays to the most natural of colors, but brings out more detail for me...interesting experiment with contrasting results! Aloha!
