Description
This image is a shot from one of my animations in making. The Aircrafts in the image are called skimmers and the animation features a race between four skimmers. The whole animation should be made in Bryce with no post-processing exept from pasting al the bits in the right order for the final animation. This means that al the special fx including sparks, splashing water, explosions and so on wil be made and animated completely in Bryce wich will cause massive rendertimes. So if anyone knows where I can find a cheap renderfarm tell me ;-)=). I hope to get it finished in one year, but nothing is certain yet.

The textures are too "brycian" and earn more a lot more finetuning. Spaceships are too simple in modelling(just 4 "eggs" in a group would be enough for a backgroundscene).

Thanks for your comments michaelgoldbach, You're right about the textures I'll try to make better ones, but the whole city features 1500 buildings (wich can all be seen in the final movie) and I didn't make ordened groups so it's going to be a lot of work. The space ships aren't very complex but I like them, some detail will be added in the final animation, but my old computer (300 Mhz AMD with 32MB RAM) already had problems with these, when pasted in big scenes and since this image is rendered on that machine I'm glad it took only 13 hours to render this image!

I know Bryce has one of the slowest renderers around, but 13 hours seems a bit much. I do agree with Michael that the textures look too Bryce, or maybe that there's too many of them. For example, do the city blocks and the street need that complex of a texture? And just as a word of advice; I think that rendering at this size for an animation is kind of overkill. Most regular video these days is 720x486 (can't remember off the top of my head what the PAL res is) or at worst, 640x480. If you render at one of those sizes (720x486 would be my choice) and use the lowest antialiasing Bryce has, you should see a nice improvement in your render times

You're lighting's great--I get the feel of the city already. It has a nice crowded complexity that is appealing. Also, if you want render farms, consider building ultra-cheap render boxes for around $300-ish apiece. I look forward to see more! I do all my test renders in widescreen 16:9, at 500x282 which makes for great render times and a good look of what the final will be.
