Description

While the water is still cold in springtime we benefit from it, as soon as we leave the shore the clouds get thinner and we get lovely weather with sunshine (the low water-temperature keeps the air as it is, but when it reaches land, the sunlit land warms it up and makes the heated air ascend, causing it to condensate where it forms clouds). The light of the sun makes the water appear as if it were lead. Today is a special day, a solar eclipse will appear (see http://spaceweather.com for more info with maps showing where it will be visible; sorry for those live in the USA or in Australia, no eclipse to be seen here today). Somewhere back in the middle ages of my time here at RR I posted a short series of a solar eclipse I watched and shot back in August 1999, so if you're interested, Solar eclipse 1, Solar eclipse 2 and Solar eclipse 3 show the real thing happening (which was one of the most impressive moments in my life) back in the time when colored comments were still an option. *sigh* :) Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

A solar eclipse you say? Oh...so thats what we "eskimoes" have to endure for months at a time up here by the polar circle, LOL. I doubt ill even notice it, since i havent seen sunshine for days now...only dark clouds and plenty of snow. What a beautiful shot by the way. Very simple yet powerful. Have a great day. #:O)

My lady blue No regrets, no tears. Only a strange feeling, sleeping without falling. I'll try another World where the water is not blue anymore, another reallity. Oh, my baby I love you, My lady blue. I'm looking for something that I'll never reach. I seek eternity. No more sun, no more wind. Only a strange feeling, leaving without moving. I'll try another World and the sky slowly fades in my mind. Just like a memory. No more reasons, no fears Only this strange feeling, giving without thinking. Oh, my baby I love you, My lady blue. I'm looking for something I'll never reach. Baby, I love you my lady blue. I'm searching for something that I'll never reach. I seek eternity. Eric Serra - My lady Blue (BO "Le grand bleu")

Great light and color for this Ocean of silver Jan-Carel ! I love it. Yessssssss there's an eclipse right now !!!! But where I work it was impossible to find a good place to shot it this time.... too much buildings arround hidden the sky. Anyway I go outside and feel the difference of luminosity and the most impressive is the difference of temperature outside ! I don't know how many degrees we have loose, but it's cold now (it was all sunny before...). And I can't find my protection special to watch eclips... then I can't look at the sun. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!! lol. I remember very well the one of 1999... it was the day of my birthday, a wonderful gift ;o)))) lol. I hope you are in condition to shot this one for us ? Have a great day my friend, and be careful, protect your eyes.... Hugssssssssss.

The sea is always interesting to me. I don't really know when to be alarmed. Boats and ships can do some amazing things in the sea. From the six inch waves of Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron to the eight footers of winter in Oxnard, California I have seen how man interacts. Ten foot rollers in the Catalina channel are like long hills to even a small 23 foot cabin cruiser. Like lead, huh?!!

No chance of seeing the eclipse here today. Too many clouds again to spoil the view. Great seascape here.

How deep and mysterious is the water as one carefully travels over it, for it can change at a moments notice. Thank you for sharing. Egmont

Some awsome textures, specular highlights and use of thirds in the perfect photo. I can just look at the ocean for hours my friend. [EDIT] damn i just missed my tea break.... again.

Whoa!! Those were very impressive shots you took back then. How'd you get them without it doing something to your eyes? Was there a special filter you used? I'm afraid of open water like this! I have to be within a certain amount of distance from land. Bit too scary for me really.
