I love the spidey. Great shot. I use an semi opaque square plastic bottle cut as a small box with sides athat just fits overe the front of the flash head and this works great for macro stuff. Just beware that multiple flash shots in short succession can melt the things that cover the flash unit. ie: take a break every few minutes and let things cool down!!

Excellent detail despite the flash problem. LouLouBell has good advice, when in a hurry I used a double layer (white) tissue bulging in front of the flash to do the same. Be prepared then to take more than one shot as the results may differ every time.

Fascinating macro, Wendy ! Don't find personally there's a flash problem, even I'm a beginner... Love precisely the white light effect on " fur" in opposite with dark background ! Your spider there makes me think at Spider crab " Maja squinado" we could " fish in Mediteranean sea and Atlantic ocean... It has a famous flavored taste... Beautiful !!! q:)

The picture is great, the subject is worrisome. Hasn't anyone told you that these critters can bite? I must agree with Zacko "EEEEWWWW". I'd be reaching for a can of 'Raid'- guess I'm just not as nice as you are. Love, Hugs and prayers.

Wow, impressive capture, Wendy! Too bad the contrasts are this high. I am not an experienced user of flashes (in fact I don't even have one), but flashing against a white sheet or so might help, as long as you can direct your flash. If not, it will be harder, but maybe more experienced flash users might help you. Terrific work!

Crap!! That thing is so hairy and nasty looking!!!!! Good Lord this could evoke plenty of nightmares. Better you than me. Have you tried a white sheet of paper to help direct the flash? Experimentation is the key I guess.
