Description

When it comes to talking to mimic the human voice nothing comes as close as that of the Great Hill Mynah, unfortunately the pet trade has reduced their numbers in the wild, and is now banned in most countries. The glossy black plumage is basically the same in all Hill races and when struck by the light you see a sheen of iridescent purple, turquoise and green All have similar bright yellow wattles but the wattle pattern varies and a bright orange beak that fades to yellow at the tip resembling "candy corn". There's a band of white across each wing. Thanks fo taking time to look and comment if you wish..

I read the Aldous Huxley novel "Island" not long ago - in the novel the Mynah plays a role...I had never seen one before until now. Excellent capture as always.

Wow, fantastic capture of this better-than-parrot bird! I thought the Australian bird of paradise (whatever that is named in (Aussie) English) was a master in sounds, able to mimic even car-alarms and chainsaws! Terrific work, Danny!

Mate in french.. Agree with your commentary about the damage pet trade and with its iridiscent plumage It's a fragile bird, could die 'cause of draught... Love them Thanks for that colored lovely pic q:)

Wonderful photo of this bird. I remember seeing many of them when I lived in Hawaii. Their social behavior is very interesting.

Oh my...what big black eyes you have! Very interesting look at a bird I've never seen before. Love the candy corn beak and the bird's pose as if modeling for you. Excellent! :-)

Very decent for the high light situation in background.Impressed with the timing of the shot. Beak open appears this bird is really saying a lot.
