TOAD (parts montage) by ZOT Renders are from Poser 6. ============================= About: ------- I get asked about how the TOAD ship (and others) were created and the simple answer is in Poser (Poser 6 in my case) I used Davo's basic core F.V.C.S. (Flight vehicle Construction Set) pack which is available for sale at: http://www.seekergamingsystems.com/ Even though I have the other construction kits of Davo's I've been temporarily holding myself to just using the basic core pack to see what I can come up with. ;-) This image simply shows the various parts in their *default state* that I used in the ship. Looking at this it gives some indication of the 'play' that goes into making any ship, rotating this and that, resizing, stretching, mish-mashing parts into others.....and forever having to remember to 'parent' each new part used to the very first base part so when that part is chosen & moved then the whole lot of objects just moves as one as it should. For this image I loaded up my completed TOAD, selected a part, hit the RESTORE command in Poser 6 (which results in the item going back to its default state), and then shoving it about to be able to see it clearly. One thing I discovered during this time tonight was that during my original construction I made a few accidental *copies* of objects inside others! - Arghhhh! - Now I have to go back to my original ship and weed out the unnecessary duplicates to make the total ship a bit leaner in filesize n' such. ;-) Could be worse though, with my "PORCUPINE" ship I had 3 complete copies of the ship inside one another! - Did I mention I can be half-asleep when working? ;-P So here's the TOAD in all it's naked glory. I'm no expert at making FVCS craft, I'm just a beginner. Most of the fun with Davo's construction kits is simply using your imagination to come up with a new craft or whatever from the parts on tap. Now if I only had a free way of making these ships into real objects in our real-world I could dangle them on bits of fishing line from the bedroom ceiling just like I did when I was a kid glueing kit models together. :-P Other images of the TOAD as well as full credits & info can be found throughout my gallery here.
