Description
Well got my German F-104F done. The Germans had more 104 starfighters than the States ever did. (914 to be exact) I always liked the Starfighter and it is one of those planes tha treally lets your imagination take wing. I saw some in flight when I as young visiting my grandparents in Germany. Screaming accross the rhine valley.
I really like the century series and think not a lot of people do cold war era planes. Anyways wings 3D for the modeling and Bryce for the rendering .Did some volumetric fun with Bryce made for a 3 hour render. (without the volume textures about 10 minutes)
The starfighter is the plane in the right stuff that yeager flies to break the records tword the end o fthe film. The starfighter broke both the altitude record and the speed record.

I heard they were a bit unsafe or unstable, starting the joke of 'how do you get one? buy an acre in Germany and wait' (later said of the Phantom as well). Excellent modeling, and great UVMapping..keep 'em flying..

I actually got a close-up look at one of these at an air show long ago. I had a cousin in the Air Guard that was sponsoring the show and he got me into areas beyond what public would be allowed. What I remember most about F104 was they had rubber guards snapped over the leading egde of the wing to keep anyone from accidentally cutting themselve (razor sharp) This will make the top 20

Very nice job !

Outstanding !

Seems a tad foreshortened to me, or maybe the cockpit and pilots are a bit oversized. The F104 is 55' long. As is, it looks more like a T-38 or a plane from the Gerry Anderson "Captain Scarlet" series.

Nicely done!!! The volumetrics make a huge difference.

Cool! This is so reminiscent of Johnny Quest!

pakled says that this aeroplane was unstable...how right he is and not only in the air! When we re-fuelled them, especially the tip tanks, each tank had to be filled a little and evenly at a time or the whole damned aeroplane fell on its side! LOL! I agree that the fuselage could do to be longer, or maybe its just the camera angle you've got it at! Nice stuff though!

Modeling & mapping...top notch!

Excellent sir. Nice model and texture. Wow, what a big cloud you have.

...Nice one.Once you heard their scream across the sky you never forgot it. And yes, it IS a little shorter than it should be. It's cockpit was actually very wide. Excellent render !

Great image and model! I hope that you will sell the F104 on Renderosity!

Well the model is actually not too short. There is quite a bit of forshortening on the pic so that is what looks a bit odd there. The other thing is that this is an F-104F a two seater so the canopy is quite a bit longer than the standard model which will throw you off. I guess I should put up some non perspective pics.

Very nice! I love West German aircraft markings and color schemes. The Star Fighter is a personal favorite of mine as well.
