Let's see--wasn't Columbia named after Columbus? Has the flavor of "Pigeonland" in Latin and the Latin languages. And talk about firsts--it was the old Soviets who were first into OUTER spacewith Sputnik, Muttnik, and the first Cosmonaut. Guess they had THE RIGHT STUFF, hmmm. And, since even "Outer Space" is not "empty", there is no qualitative difference in "space", wherever it happens to be found. So much for Hoyle. Now about the Red Shift....Oh, SUPERB IMAGE!

Great compo. Must add that April 12 is observed as The Day of Austronautics in Russia. On that day in 1961 Yuri Gagarin, the 1st astronaut (cosmonaut, as we say in Russia) made just a single round-the-globe trip.

Not to forget Valentina, Valentina Teresjkova, the first woman in space, so beautifully eternalised in a song by the great communist protest singer of Chile, Violeta Parra, and her daughter with the most beautiful voice in the world, Isabel Parra. Also, Kort, this image is wonderful! Beautifully composited composition! ;-)
