Description

So it's one beautiful African Day outside. It's autumn here but the temp today will easily get up to 26 deg C. And I have flowers blooming in my garden, the hibiscus flowers are going strong and try as hard as I could, I couldn't capture one of the constantly moving 10 butterflies on Saturday hovering around the blooming seeds. I got the focus on the wing to show that it wasn't a moth. Tx for all of the fantastic comments on my post from Friday. This one is also all postworked in PS! To everyone a great week!

But then there would be no detail of the wings, espec in macro DOF mode... My other shot had the focus on it's eyes, I like to have some veriation sometimes, rules are ment to be bent :} I do like the eyes of insects thou they are so intricate :D

Very nice framing. But bad photo, though good composition and exposure. If you want a simple rule for the portrait of people or animal: ALWAYS PUT THE FOCUS AT LEAST ON THE EYES ! (I mean the real ones, exept if there is no eyes !) There is only 0.000001% of the situations where this rule is not suitable... ------------------------------------ Yes, I understand. Sure the best would be to have enough depth of field to have both eyes and wing sharp. That's where you have to master technique and photographic tools also. Photographic tools include your computer. One day, you can try to take several shots with different focus and merge the sharp parts with the computer. In photography like in general, the rules are made to be broken, but preferably after you understand why a rule is interesting. Often it is good to respect a rule because it helps for mind manipulation and that's what brings a photo that we feel as good: A manipulation of mind and perceptions. But I don't worry, I know that you are a very creative girl and I'm confident that you will break rules in the suitable situations, but don't do it too early and preferably do it on more abstract photos by now... well it is just an advice. tchuss

this looks like a buckeye butty and is totally unique capture along with the tell tell spot. here they are so afraid that it is really hard to capture period. they fly at the slightest noise. I do not know the actions of them in Africa but I bet it is the same. a second shot may not have been possible and being this is so unique I would not be worried about the eyes being out of focus and just be proud of the rarity. I never seen any butty before in the situation
