Description
Just before I moved from florida last summer, I went to the pier to take some pictures. I got some nice pics of people fishing, seagulls, pelicans, surfers and sunbathers. As I was shooting some pics, I happened to notice this sign that said DON'T FEED THE PELIGATORS. I lived in Florida for 40 years and never heard of a Peligator. Well, right about then some cute girl in a bright pink bikini caught my eye. So naturally, doing a guy thing I began to take her picture. Just as I was about to snap the shot, the girl screamed and began running down the pier. I thought to myself what a strange reaction to having her picture taken, or maybe she thought I was a stalker or something ....disappointed I slowly turned around to this hessing sound (snakes hiss ..gators hess). There looking me right in the face was the strangest and ugliest creature I ever saw. I quickly snapped the picture you now see ..... I then turned an ran down the pier passing the cute bikini girl.
I later found out that these creatures are somewhat rare and they are always looking for a handout...

Great capture! Usually they dine on a regular diet of Jackalopes which they scoop up and store on their weekdend trips to Wyoming and Colorado. This one's obviously very hungry....

I bet they ARE always looking for a handout -- so they can munch on the hand! I'm not sure I like the idea that these things can silently fly over and then dip down for a taste of my cranium! Anyway, great work, and the sign is an excellent touch.

Why is our state bird the mockingbird!?!?! Its should be the Peligator! :-) I bet these could be effective crowd controls for spring break. I love the way you framed it! Fantastic work!!

I can only look on in amazement as you show us yet another strange critter from your imagination. I bet you have some doozy nightmares, lol. Wicked good critter. I also like the framing and the angled lettering on the sign. The little touches you incorporate always add to the finished image.
