Description

Lone eagle The bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), our national bird, is the only eagle unique to North America. The bald eagle's scientific name signifies a sea (halo) eagle (aeetos) with a white (leukos) head. At one time, the word "bald" meant "white," not hairless. Bald eagles are found over most of North America, from Alaska and Canada to northern Mexico. About half of the world's 70,000 bald eagles live in Alaska. Combined with British Columbia's population of about 20,000, the northwest coast of North America is by far their greatest stronghold for bald eagles. They flourish here in part because of the salmon. Dead or dying fish are an important food source for all bald eagles. ~~~~ Terrain, atmosphere and surfacing are mine. The eagle is a tube created by the wonderful Classylady, tons of thanks Carolyn. This was actually a 'test' surface, as I was trying to add Maydays tile to is, using settings sent to me by Choronr (I hope I spelt that right Bob) It didn't work well here in this one, but I plan on trying again. :) Terrain was created using Geo Control, again thanks to Cajomi for this program. I did it on top of some horrid terrain I had done previously with lots of 'polygons' and voila... My deepest thanks to everyone for your continued support and encouragement. Sorry for the lapse in comments here in TG, but I've been working on some of my sketches for an upcoming art show. (my 2d work ) Be well, As always, Pat

Another wonderful moody one with your atmos. Excellent terrain with the layers and stratas really like the way it turned out for you. The Bald Eagle was a nice addition, have several where I live along with Osprey. Well done.

A beautiful composition Pat. Regarding the overlays, try setting them up at a high camera setting; then, drop the camera height a little and look for the best POV.

Another winner Pat! Love the strata you used here. Still stuggling with that technique. Lighting and POV is great. One thing - did the eagle scare Poly & Gon away?
