Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

Nice to see Bert acting like that, although he has got his wisdom-teeth, does he not? This ol'feller [of a tree] looks also very immobile. And I do not think that immobility is an ingredient for wisdom: but what is? Have a good day, J.C.!

Very cool! Luckily no forest creatures were living there to defend against the human invaders :) I once heard that wisdom comes from experience, and experience is what you get when you don't have enough wisdom.

Five crucial aspects of wisdom come to mind (education; experience; retention; application; and discretion). In other words, one must learn until they finally know, they must remember that which they've experienced and learned, they must apply that knowledge consistently, and they must act with self-discipline, in an exemplary manner! I digress, my apologies, but you did pose the question. About your photo; WOW, that is a mighty oak indeed! I'm sure glad you and Bert had the foresight to provide a sense of scale with this magnificent oak and capture. Excellent work Jan (and Bert)! Have an awesome day guys!

Wow wow wow! I'm a little surprised that over the eons that somebody like Zacko hasn't chopped this down? Didn't think there was many old growth trees still around anywhere in Europe. :B eaver !

haha! Awesome shot, what a cool looking tree...=]

I believe it boils down to experience tempered with insight, and sometimes insight alone shines through as wisdom. This much I know: some are inherently more wise than others, displaying it even from childhood. Enough about that, this is a marvelous picture! What a beautiful old tree! Great catch, Jan!

You've captured one of the Heinzelmnchen (brownies)! Who knew that they still live in the forest along the banks of the Weser? Did he grant you a wish, or put a charm on you? You must have found his favor, as he allowed you to photograph him. Fantastic, imaginative composition!
