Well, not quite looking at you (he had been a few seconds before the shot was taken), but he certainly can. This cute little fellow is a Veiled Chameleon (and yes, he is little, only about 8 inches long). Like most members of the chameleon family, his eyes can rotate 180 degrees, and independently so. He was just relaxing, apparently untroubled by the 3 year old that had just been beating on the glass (an act that would have got the young fellow a swat on the hand and stern talking to by his father, once he had caught up to him...). A rather tricky shot since I had to shoot through a sheet of Plexiglass (about 1/2 inch thick) and the glass of the tank that he resides in. Thankfully all the extra layers of glass did was filter the light a bit so that I had to do a slight color balance in Photoshop to bring things back in line. Shot was taken with my Olympus E-300, using the 18-180mm Zoom Lens (actual focal length 65mm), ISO set to 800 (noise reduction filter switched on as well), 1/8 shutter speed at F5.4.
