Description

Believe it or not, this is a sea lion I shot in the Willamette River in downtown Portland, Oregon. He must be 120 miles (190 km) from the ocean. I've lived here a little over 20 years and never seen or heard of one in the city. He created quite a stir among the few of us who saw him. He made very short work of that fish. :-) Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

What an amazing picture and you were definitely in the right spot at the right time. When I saw the picture I thought you were at the Bonneville Dam taking pictures of the sea lions there who are eating all the fish, much to the fishermen's dismay.

How interesting that he lives in the river. Maybe fishing is scarce this year?? He seems to have caught quite a yummy one here though!

Well, Dennis, perhaps he came from California! Were there real estate agents chasing him? LOL...but seriously, this is a great photo. In looking over your posts since I last checked in a month ago, I'm just blown away by the quality and diversity of your work. Extraordinary!

Great pic! It tells an amazing story. Your river must be very clean and inviting to have sea lions and golden fish :)
