There are a lot of those sitting out in the countryside here in NC. I myself have always found it rather depressing to think about the dreams someone had when they built a house like this decades ago, and the state it's in now. Makes you want to listen to "Dust in the Wind". :)

I like your title. Very dramatic, fitting to the picture, and even a possible explanation.

You don't find many houses like this where I live in the west. Somebody must own it and the land it sits on. Why would they let it go into this state of dis-repair? Great photo.

Looking at the image of this house I am reminded of some of the lyrics of the song by Jimi Hendrix "The wind cries mary": Will the wind ever remember the names it has blow in the past? And with this crutch, its old age, and its wisdom it whispers no, this will be the last And the wind cries Mary. An empty house seems to have a certain sadness to it as once upon a time someone called it home. It is amazing that most of the glass in the windows is intact.

Great find of this beautiful house deteriorating though. It seems worth to put efforts in it to make it function again!
