Hey everyone! I would have been up more often but just got over a major computer issue.
I was working one day and my video card up and puked on me. I had a Dell 8000 series with a ATI Raedon 9800 Pro video card. After some research I discovered that when Dell installed these cards they were more concerned with noise than performance. The fan isn't big enough to cool the system and they installed the sound card too close to the video so there isn't enough circulation.
Most people discover this after about 2 years (that is the time frame of all the hundreds that are experiencing this problem). So for any of you out there that have this card, move your sound card down a slot and buy a better fan with ram heatsinks. Oh, there are no ram heatsinks on this video card. Anyway, by the time I discovered this and installed a new fan my card was already shot, so I had to replace that too.
I bought a new system (I update every 3-5 years) I bought a Praetorian 730 and WOW. Talk about bang for your bucks, this system is a power horse. If I had purchased a new system from Dell, dollar for dollar I couldn't have begun to touch on the quality of this system.
You can go to their website and customize any of their systems into exactly what you want and their prices are excellent. I don't think I'll ever buy another Dell for many reasons.

Cool image hot PC....:-)) Sorry about your computer probs..rendering gives heavy loads on the machines, thats why I buld my systems my self with good and quiet cooling stuff.. ~Uwe

I used to work for Dell, and at the time, I believe they had the best Windows PCs on the market. In November of 2001, I think, I quit; a few weeks later I heard that they had laid off 1,500 people. The next summer I installed a Dell PC in an office at the local airport, and it died the next day. My experience with their tech support--by then outsourced to India--was enough to cause my opinion of Dells to change! Still, why didn't you get a Mac, girl? :D

Yeah, Dell has got some problems. I dont think I have ever hear of the brand of computer you bought. I have had a serious computer crash for well over a week.....on the computer that I have internet connection. Just beginning to get it up and running though. So is your new computer quiet as well as powerful ??? I better check the video card on my work computer. I really dont know what it is. I burned out a PNY Nivideo card on one computer after a couple of years. There was so much hidden dust on the thing it just fried. lol. Excellent to see you posting again. Congrats on the new computer.
