Lichened Fawn by TwoPynts
Open full image in new tabDescription
A little fawn sculpture on the tomb of Maurice Lynwood Atkinson in a St. Marys, Georgia cemetery. I was intrigued by the tenderness of the fawn, and the lichens and ferns that have begun to grow upon it. Maurice lived for 80 years upon this planet and this is probably everything I will ever know about the man. It makes one ponder life's mysteries... ----- Thank you for your caliginous comments on my last upload, Florida Wildfires From I95.

Quite a wonderful image. I find life not to be a mystery at all; now death, that is quite mysterious... however, I am a rather strange sort :-) I really like this!

I really like this photo.Wonderful shot of the Fawn covered with Lichen against the gravestone. A great sense of permanence defying the actual death. Wonderful image. Excellent !!! V

What a thoughtful upload,Kortalouche.Your words really enhance this 'dark' somewhat gothic-looking image.I love how the moss gives the impression that life still goes on...Well done and worthy of contemplation...Now...what the heck does caliginous mean?LOL that's a new one on me.I'll have to go look it up right now!I hate when I don't know what something means!Have a wonderful weekend,my friend.Excellent work,as always.-M :^)

Very interesting piece! That lichen does give the image a hint of the surreal or something... As for my last comment being caliginous, I apologize - I know I can be a jerk sometimes but I guess my words were uncalled for... LOL - I'm with Margana, I have no idea what that word means +++

Even though the fawn sits as if waiting for the return of someone. I find this to be a very warm and touching memento. Great shot. HUGS!!

A superb image, Kort! Such tenderness is here, Spurgeon's words are beautiful. Maurice must have been a dearly loved man, for his family to place such a memorial for him. Sublime work, as always.
