Description

"Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs." --William Shakespeare

Another photo of the smoke from Florida wildfires, this time from an upstairs window in my house. It must have been north and well to the west, and quite large, because the smoke filled the sky in that region like a spreading pestilence. It was a bit eerie when seen from one's house, even though it was a good distance away. ----- Thanks for stopping by and for your mossy comments on my last photo, Lichened Fawn.

Yikes. That looks way too familiar for comfort. We have had quite a few wildfires here in NM already this year. Bad drought. I didnt know that Florida was having them too. I really dont like this time of year for that reason. Such a scary sight. Ever since I was living in the Oakland-berkeley hills and went through the Oakland hills fire in CA, I am scared to death of the site. Also the los Alamos fire here in NM scared me alot. I hate wildfires. But this image is a good reminder to people to be careful.

Many forest fires in the West are man-made, and caused by the very people who try to prevent small natural burns. Meanwhile development turns natural burns into "disasters". Federal Disaster Relief for folks who live in pictureque and expensive areas continually subject to natural disasters is welfare for the very rich....A good deal of the Florida coast and back country qualifies.

Excellent photo. I can understand feeling. On vacatios wee were twice near big forest fires in Dalmatia. Ones only few hundred meters away from our house on the shore.

Incredible capture Kort! Man, that's a lot of smoke! Interesting how the intensity of the sun's light is reduced to nothing more than a little pink spec, with no radiating rays! Now that's thick! Splendid work my friend. Have an awesome day!

Wow, stunning capture of this menacing cloudscape, great to know you are safe but even then one might get the feeling what happens if the wind-direction turns. Excellent work, you convey the feeling well, Kort!
