Description
The Ring Nebula (or M57 in that Frenchman's list of things what aren't comets).
This is a new picture of an old favourite. I got a new camera. It is a dedicated astrophotography ccd unit with peltier cooling and is just a lot of fun.
I have relegated my cheep webcam to pictures of planets. I used it in this photo to guide my telescope mount.
This is a stack of 30 x 60 second exposures using an 8" Newtonian telescope. My webcam is attached to a 80mm small telescope and piggybacked on top of the big telescope. My computer then does all the hard work, reads the webcam, instructs the telescope where to point and takes the main picture with the other camera.
HELP, I am turning geeky. Somebody shoot me if I ever buy a pocket protector or an indestructable thermos flask.
