Description

Well, Here is my CG talk Journey begins challenge entry. Almost everything was modeled in carrara's vertex modeler, and carrara was used for the sky, trees, terrain and lighting effects. The two people were modeled in hexagon and posed in Carrara. The image is not quite what I was after , it is missing an extra something but I am happy with parts of it. Let me know your comments or crits.

That's an amazing amount of work. I have yet to render a tree in Carrara and you've rendered hundreds of the things. This is something for me to aspire to. Thanks for sharing.

Very well done. If you were completely satisfied with it, there would be no reason to do another! ;)

Great piece Mike! It's great to see someone take a concept all the way to a finished illustrative work. It's unfortunate we are limited to seeing it at monitor size.

This is truly incredible. The first image in months that I've given an "excellent" ranking to -- and it definitely deserves it!

I'm no Carrara expert, and though I think you made an incredible job at modelling and posing, there's something bothersome here: you applied a dof effect on the plants in the foreground, but there is no blur in the background or anywhere else. Dof effect needs a focus, and blurs evrything else according to distance, so there should be some blurring in the distance too.

Its images like this that make me strive to get deeper into Cararra. Excellent work - you've definately got my vote (if I could find a vote button!)

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments on my image its appreciated. Bruno021, that is a good point and did think of this as I was blurring the foreground , I guess I could have done something with the distant mountains . My problem was there is the tower focal point and the characters focal point , do I have to choose one and blur the rest. Something to play with I guess.

Overall this is lovely. As far as constructive critcism goes - the volumetric clouds seem out of scale to be behind the mountains and the colour of the lake seems a little off... too bright or something.

This is wonderfully done and if I had put this much work into something I wouldn't be able to bring myself to blur any of it.

Stunning, I'm impressed, wow! Once slight comment, the shoreline is a bit straight, it could do with some more small bays (or whatever those are called in English) to get some more variaty.

Excellent work. I am going to get carrara and start playing with it. This images shows what it can do and you did and awesome job with modeling and landscaping with it. :)
