In my youth we traveled to Western-Germany to see the steam engines actually work. To a place called Rheine (as far as I remember. It was nearby Osnabrk). We visited the maintenance workshop over there a few times and it was very impressive. I stll love trains, especially the steam engines. Your photograph brought back all those memories.. thank you.

A classic railway image of a Steam Engine that is very much alive and well. Which is more than can be said for a lot of them since the advance of dieselisation. Thankyou for including the details regarding engine type and location.

Yes! Nothing as awe-inspiring for sheer attitude as a steamer running full out! Man, I have GOT to get to Strasburg, PA to see what that line is doing these days!
