Description

This is my first time posting to Renderosity even though I've been around a while. This is my latest image called the Dark Phoenix which I created as a tribute to one of my favorite Xmen artists Greg Land. I posted with the hopes to get feedback that will help me improve my skills further so all suggestions and advice are appreciated and encouraged! I hope you guys enjoy my rendition of Greg Lands the Dark Phoenix! Cheers! P6/C5 - Postwork in PSP/PS7

I love X-men and Dark Phoenix is a favorite..this is a marvelous version of her and that hair and the fire FX are just superb, so are the eyes. I can't see any need to improve on this at all.

My only suggestion is it might have a light (or high light) coming from underneath from the flames (light source). Realy though it's an excellent image as is! I've been looking at it along time, lol. Do I keep seeing evil little faces in the flames, hehe. Very wnoderful work!! Glad to see ya posting here :)

Very beautiful & impressive image. It captures the comic-book feeling -- hair & eyes are amzing, and the fire too! I've done something similar, maybe you'd like to check it out: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1073412

Thank you all very much for all your comments! I really appreciate every single one of them. I am really happy that so many of you were able to enjoy this piece =) It makes me warm and fuzzy! As far as this being my first posting, well it was indeed my first posting here to Renderosity but I've been doing 3d art for years and only posting to my own website. Only recently did I build enough courage to share my art outside my domain and share my vision with others. Thank you all again for the warm comments, they really do mean a lot! Cheers!

Fire Dust you did a great job with the Dark Phoenix. The only improvement might be the morphing in the face and texture. If you were trying for the Jean Grey face from the movie, it's almost dead one. If from the comic, it's a little off. Also the face texture seems a little plastic like the default V3 face. The pose, the hair, the fire, the texture/material on the costume - are ALL great. Dark Phoenix being one of the MOST evil (okay not evil-psychotic/hungry) of the Marvel characters - she does have that look to her.

Thank you for your comment about the image McAfee, strangely enough that is an ultra photo-realistic texture I used for the skin, however when I added the lights it some how drowned that out. For as long as I've been doing most mediums of art, lighting has always been my weakest aspect and I'm sure that's what you're seeing here. As far as the morph, well I was trying to go for something between both adding a little personality of myself to it :D Glad you liked it though! Thanks again!

What's up chica? I just realized something. You're an attractive young female that likes comics? What's wrong with you? Just kidding. This one came out great, but if you'd like a suggestion? Use some yellow/orange lights below and to the fron of her to simulate the light from the fire in the foreground. You could also add a slight ambient yellow or flesh color to the shader nodes to cut out some of the shadow. But, those are nitpicky things as I think this is one of the better Dark Phoenix pics out there, and I'm glad you didn't just do Phoenix. :P

The framing is so cinematic! Love the wide-screen format for this composition! Her pose and the hair are perfect!! She looks very dangerous!!
